The Amiga uses a printer driver system to hide the details of printing from all applications. The user installs the appropriate driver for his/her printer, and all applications use it transparently by sending data to the PRT (printer) device. If desired, this driver system is easily bypassed by sending data directly to the SER (serial) or PAR (parallel) device.
